The Foodi Grill is the latest addition to the Ninja family, and I have never been more satisfied after buying a new appliance for my kitchen. The size may be small, but the features and cooking quality are top-notch. The new Foodi Grill XL gave a better quality taste to my food than what I got from a traditional barbecue grill. This article compares the differences between the models.
The difference between the two models is that the Ninja Foodi Grill Smart XL is larger than the original 5-in-1 Ninja Foodi Grill and can grill 50% more food. It has a broil function, a Smart Cook System, with a Smart Thermometer that continuously monitors food temperatures as it’s cooking.
The grilling is quick and effective, and you can monitor the temperature and Grill with a control panel. You are, furthermore, built with advanced cyclonic grilling technology, ensuring that your food gets grilled on all sides. So, it’s all streamlined to give you the best user experience in grilling and frying.

Ninja Foodi Grill Pro Technologies Makes Grill Amazing
Every kitchen appliance that comes into the market and builds the hype has something new and exciting. The developers and designers market that product as such. My reason for informing you about the technologies is to help you understand how to prepare your food and make it taste better.
Cyclonic Grilling Technology
This ninja foodi grill pro was designed with a unique technology that enables even heat distribution to the food. The idea is to circulate heat to the interior and the external surface. This will help you prepare your juicy food from the inside and perfectly chargrilled outside.
With this technology, the air circulates evenly throughout the Ninja Grill, ensuring that the top-ups and added ingredients produce an exquisite flavor to your recipes.
No More Need to Flip on The Grill Any Longer
No more flipping on the Grill is made possible with the help of grilling technology. You must flip the food midway to heat it evenly on a regular grill. No Flip Grilling saves cook time. The grill plate is also made with a practical design with enough space to let the heat travel through the food.
Control Your Grill Temperature with Smart Control Technology
So, the fact is that with Grill Control, you need not necessarily jab at your food with fork needles now and then. Just fix the temperature and time and wait for some magic to happen.
I hope you understand what problem the Ninja Grill will solve for you. All the issues you face with your outdoor Grill or barbecue will poof away with this small addition to your kitchen.
And if that’s not all, you are getting an air fryer, baking source, dehydrating source, and an appliance to roast all within one appliance. This is the real deal.
It just goes beyond the scope of grilling with ninja foodi pro grill. You can do a lot with a tiny appliance that won’t take up much countertop space in your kitchen. A dehydrator alone may cost you around $200 to $300.
The crisper basket will let you air fry up to 2 lbs. of chicken wings or even French fries if you have the tongue for them. Furthermore, the cooking pot can hold up to 3 lbs. of roast, and everything is managed with an automatic control panel.
Does It Cook Well?
According to Jeffery’s review from walmart.com, I love my new Ninja Foodi grill! I chose this model because
- I don’t plan to do any dehydrating, which is something other models have as a feature, and
- I don’t have others to feed these days; kids are grown and gone, so I didn’t need the newer XL model with the larger grill surface.
In other words, I can quickly grill a steak or two simultaneously, but I would have needed the XL model to grill 3 or 4 steaks at once.
Yum! Oh, and one more thing. I have truly enjoyed what I’ve grilled or air-fried in it and have plans to treat myself before long with a couple of lobster tails. So, keep these things in mind if you’re trying to choose which Ninja Foodi grill model to buy (see also ‘Ninja Foodi Max 15-In-1 Vs. 14-In-1‘).
If you buy this or another Ninja Foodi grill, there are many excellent YT videos and a FB group that will give you many concepts and tips. And if you don’t buy the XL model (which comes with its thermometer probe), get yourself a meat thermometer and get used to grilling according to suggested temperatures. You’ll be glad you did.
Is Ninja Foodi Grill Any Good?
Owners who purchased the Foodi Grill on Amazon gave it a star rating of 4.8 out of more than 6,800 Amazon reviews. Reviewers rant about its grilling and air-frying performance and enjoy the fact that it’s an indoor smokeless grill. “O. M. G. This thing is awesome. We have a condo where we cannot afford grills on our balcony.”
Can You Bake a Cake In The Foodi Grill?
You can bake a cake in the Foodi Grill; the pot is big enough to hold an 8-inch bunt pan. Fill the bundt pan with cake batter, add a cup of water to the bottom of the Ninja Grill, place the bundt pan into the Ninja Foodi, and set the cooking time for 25 min by pressing the bake option, and then set the temp to 350 degrees.
Why Does My Foodi Grill Smoke?
If your Ninja Grill smokes when cooking with high temperatures above 450°F. Try using oils with higher smoke points of 400°F or higher, such as avocado, corn, canola, and grapeseed. Cooking a roasting in the oven, sautéing, pan-frying, or stir-frying over medium-high heat is usually done between 250°F and 400°F. The high setting on the Ninja Grill cooks at 500°F.
Is The Foodi Grill Also a Pressure Cooker
Foodi Grill XL is not a Pressure cooker; you can’t prepare soups, stews, sauces, and grains the like you can in a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker # OP302. It was designed as an indoor smokeless grill that can achieve perfect chargrilled results indoors. It can also air-fryer crisp foods, bake, roast, broil, and dehydrate.
Ninja Foodi Grill Reviews
According to Sharon Franke from reviewed.com;
Anyone who loves grilled foods but doesn’t have easy access to an outdoor grill will love this Ninja. It browns food a lot better than a broiler, and unlike pan grilling, it won’t fill up your house with smoke. The fact that it can also air crisp is a big plus. While it also roasts, bakes, and dehydrates, we wouldn’t run out and buy it for those capabilities.
According to Patrick A. Coleman from fatherly.com;
The Ninja Foodi (see also ‘Is The Ninja Foodi Cheaper Than An Oven To Run?‘) smokeless indoor grill was already the greatest thing I’d bought in 2020. And when lockdown hit? It was nothing short of a godsend. That’s not hyperbole. The Foodi Grill is the best smokeless grill out there and good enough to rival some of the best regular grills, making it the equivalent of the 1962 Green Bay Packers: It can seemingly do it all.
According to Sharon Lehman from thespruceeats.com;
While we wouldn’t recommend the Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Grill just for air crisp, baking, or dehydrating, it does make sense for anyone who wants to grill indoors year-round or doesn’t have the option of an outdoor grill. It produces impressive grill marks and caramelization in little time without any smoking, and the fact that it can also be used to crisp fries and tots to golden perfection is an added bonus.
