Preparing Your Cooking Essential Pressure Cooker

Read the entire manual before using your pressure cooker for the first time. Then, wash all the removable parts in hot water and dishwashing liquid, except for the housing, and let them dry completely before putting them back in the base.

Check if the rubber gasket fits properly inside the lid by filling the removable inner pan two-thirds full with water. Secure the lid and run it on high for 15 minutes, then release the pressure, and let it cool completely. Finally, open the lid and pour out the water. Clean the inner pot again after this step.

Once you’re done cleaning, according to, the Cooking Essentials pressure cooker manual recommends putting the removable inner pan inside the pressure cooker housing before preparing the recipe. The NCHFP directions for pressure canning apply to stove-top pressure canners, not cookers, and are not transferable to your electronic unit.
